Description
This course is interactive and hands-on with practical instruction on pregnancy testing livestock using rectal palpation and ultrasound. Practice on live cows and receive immediate feedback from an experienced trainer and Breeding Technician. On completion of the course, students will have pregnancy tested twenty (20) cows during different stages of gestation with an expected 95% accuracy rate.
- The manual palpation method
- How to pregnancy test at approximately 90/120/150 days
- How to recognise an empty cow
- plan and prepare for preg testing
- identify risks/ apply regulations
- arrange support for preg testing
- use humane methods & facilities
- carry out an ultrasound or a manual test
- maintain records
- Monitor livestock after preg testing
Once the credited course is completed, you will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment (AHCLSK339 Pregnancy Test Livestock).
