Description

This qualification describes the skills and knowledge required for individuals preparing for entry level work in the agriculture, and conservation and ecosystem management industries. The qualification is suited to VET programs delivered to secondary school students or learners with no previous connection to the agriculture or conservation and land management industries or relevant employment history.

There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

The Units of Competency included in AHC10222 Certificate I in Agriculture are as follows:

All Students must complete the mandatory Core Units of Competency listed below

AHCWHS102 Work safely

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to work safely, including identifying work safety issues, observing safe work practices, participating in workplace safety meetings and following incident emergency response procedures.

AHCWRK102 Maintain the workplace

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to maintain a range of work areas, including preparing tools, equipment and machinery, maintaining a clean and safe workplace and maintaining structures and workplace surroundings.

AHCBIO204 Follow site biosecurity procedures

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to follow the workplace biosecurity procedures for accessing and leaving a quarantine site to reduce and contain the transfer of diseases or pests.

AHCCHM101 Follow basic chemical safety rules

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to follow instructions and direction for safe handling, storage and use of chemicals.

AHCWRK213 Participate in workplace communications

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to participate in workplace communications.

Students are required to choose a single Elective Unit of Competency (1) from the list below that aligns with their individual career goals.

AHCLSK103 Support livestock work (Unit sector: Livestock)

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to undertake livestock work under direct supervision and to support the work of others.

AHCBAC102 Support agricultural crop work (Unit sector: Broad Acre Cropping)

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide support to others undertaking agricultural crop production activities.

• 2 x 2 hour sessions per week via Teams over 6 weeks = total 24 hours

• Students need to do at least 4 hours per week self paced learning and complete the knowledge assessment

• On-farm training and assessment - Trainer on-site for 3 days - 6 hours per day - this is to cover practical application and final assessment

• The fee includes resources
