Dr. Robyn Alders

Robyn is one of the most respected Veterinary Scientists in Australia, and has spent over 30 years working with small holder farmers in Africa, Asia and Oceania.
The Australian Veterinary Association recognised her distinguished contribution to international veterinary science by awarding her the Kesteven Medal, while the Governor General of Australia invested her as an Officer of the Order of Australia for services to veterinary science as a researcher and educator.
She’s currently an Honorary Professor at the Australian National University, working on sustainable food systems in the development policy centre, as well as a Senior Consulting Fellow at the Centre for Universal Health in London, involved with livestock and aquaculture policy, global food and nutrition security research.
We’re incredibly lucky to have her on our team, where she continues to focus on sustainable food systems, food and nutrition security, infectious disease prevention, gender equity and science communication.

Novice Shearing Oct 2026
Five full days of training could change your life. Being a sheep shearer is hard work, but it’s incredibly rewarding and this course will take you through every aspect of it with expert guidance, and hands-on experience you simply won’t find anywhere else.
Shearing Taster day
Not everyone’s cut out for the nine to five, and for many of your students life on a farm might as well be another planet, but it doesn’t have to be. This shearer tasting day provides an introduction to sheep shearing, and a career many of your students may not have contemplated before. Led by experienced Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) Instructors, this course is a hands-on, practical day that takes you through every step in the wool harvesting process.
Bale Twine Repurposing – National Ag Day
The Australian Agricultural Centre has launched the National Ag Day Bale Twine Repurposing Challenge, encouraging schools, families, farmers, community groups and makers to collect used bale twine and give it a new purpose instead of leaving it in paddocks or sending it to landfill.
